S.R. 3012 Section B10

Michael Kilgore

Cost: $1.94 Mil.
Client: Engineering District 12-0
Contact: Troy Pritts, P.E.(724-415-2401)
Project Letting - July 6, 2006

This project included the development of the Design-Build Contract for the removal and reconstruction of the original bridge carrying S.R. 3012 (County Road) over Sewickley Creek in Sewickley and South Huntingdon Townships. The original bridge was a two (2) span reinforced concrete through-girder bridge (117’ overall span). The structure concept presented in the Design-Build contract was a two (2) span prestressed concrete spread box beam bridge. SPK developed the preliminary design concepts that included an access road and causeway for removal and reconstruction of the center pier. The Department successfully obtained the required Authorization-to-Enter, Non-Waiver of Claim for the impacted properties to permit the construction activities to advance as the Right-of-Way acquisition activities advanced.

Hyde Park Road to the S.R. 4048 and S.R. 0356 Intersection - Westmoreland County -  SPK provided preliminary and final design engineering services for a 1.2 mile widening and resurfacing project.  The project consisted of widening an existing two-lane roadway to accommodate center left turn lanes throughout the roadway corridor between two (2) major traffic routes.  SPK completed pavement, drainage, traffic signal, traffic control, signing & pavement marking, and erosion & sediment pollution control design services.  SPK coordinated lengthy utility relocation efforts for overhead and underground facilities and worked closely with the Department to address traffic control concerns relative to high traffic volumes generated by the Kiski Area School District.

S.R. 0006 Section 621

Cost: - $1.8 million
Client: PennDOT, District 2-0

Potter County - This project consisted of preliminary design for approximately 9,000’ of pavement restoration, drainage and guide rail upgrades. The project consisted of a mill and overlay with reconstructed shoulders and full depth pavement replacement in isolated base failure areas and pipe crossings. The project also included bridge preservation details to perform maintenance on existing structures within the project limits. Pavement cross slopes for travel lanes were evaluated within horizontal curves and corrected to meet 3R design criteria.  Final Design, Construction Plan and Bid Package was completed by District 2-0.
